Controller's comments
Having been assured by Dick that Sunday would be fine, I knew I could safely leave all other arrangements to him and his team, and concentrate on the courses (he was a bit lucky, and I was glad the event didn't take place 24 hours later). Bethecar's terrain means that any 10 or 12 circles joined by lines will probably produce an enjoyable course, but Roger's (shorter) and Richard's (longer) courses were universally complimented, especially for the long legs. Roger revised his Orange course several times, looking for line features in the pleasantest terrain and to allow for possible misty conditions. There were few retirements, no injuries (as far as I know) and most winning times were on target. One or two commented on the lack of taping to the Finish, which has to be easily found (for the simpler courses) and is usually on a line feature - in this case the fence and stream. However we decided to tape only from 173 (Hill) leaving the other courses to Navigate to Finish, but forgetting to indicate the distinction by using a solid line from the other last controls. My apologies to anyone annoyed by this - luckily the finish banner was easily visible from afar. My compliments and thanks to Roger, Richard, Dick, Iain and others for putting on another excellent event.
