LOC Cumbria Galoppen - Graythwaite

  • Sunday, 17 April 2011

Thanks to Richard, Anne and Meg for their quiet eficiency in ensuring an excellent event.

Because of unforeseen access problems Richard and Anne had to speedily replan all courses and confine them to a much smaller area. I think they did an excellent job, with some good legs giving serious route choice.

There were criticisms from several competitors about the mapping in the northern part of the area, mostly related to the semi-open land in which clusters of conifers are developing into small areas of fight.
This confused some competitors around one control, and in retrospect I accept that particular site could have been better chosen.

I have attended too many events when maps have run out. It's frustrating for competitors and embarassing for the organiser. So Meg had gone to some length in researching likely attendance. I believe nobody would have bet on over 400 entries with half on just 2 courses! As just 34 maps needed to be recycled spread over just 3 courses I think she did a pretty good job.

John Nash, Controller

Many thanks to everyone from LOC who helped at yesterday's event at Graythwaite. We had an army of people and needed you all.

It was a lovely day which brought out lots of families so the string and white courses were kept busy.

The pleasures of running at Graythwaite coupled with a training course on Saturday and the JK coming up shortly meant that the event was very popular.

I hadn't quite anticipated that the turnout that came on the day would be so huge, so apologies to those of you who had to wait for a map and thanks to those who et us re-cycle your's. If you didn't leave your address with us and would like a replacement map please phone me and we will send you one out.

The following items were handed into lost property. Contact me for further information:-

a) A green hoodie with "Clume dance acedemy" printed on it

b) A control card holder. Belongs to a green- course competitor.

A e-card was lost, by a competitor, somewhere on the track between the download and toilets. No.443865. If anyone has picked it up please let us know.
