LOC Summer Series - Millom Park

  • Wednesday, 06 June 2012

The event went off without any hitches in rather pleasant sunshine.

Numbers were down - was it because the area is called Millom Park? If so, those put off by this missed a really good area, with many people finding it a significant technical challenge. One person even likened it to running in Scotland.

The comments about the planning were all pretty positive. The only criticism was that I used the same control twice on the Green courses, they thought it made it too easy. Of course, immediately after that someone came in having made a several minute mistake on the same control. I then struggled to find the control when collecting them in later, as I approached from a different direction!

Thanks to Rick Browne for sorting out access, Lowther Estates for letting us use the area, the farmer for letting us use the field (and having managed to cut the grass before) and, finally, Selwyn for co-organising the event with me.

There was a request for the area to be used for a bigger event, like a Galoppen, and it is certainly up to it, so long as we don't try to use it any later than this time of the year.
